Homoeopathy it is...

Homoeopathy, till some years back, was an alternative form of medicine looked down upon by allopaths. But increasing lifestyle diseases and the gentle treatments homoeopathy offers to children have given it an image makeover.Dr Karuna Malhotra tells you how this field has come alive as a lucrative career
Homoeopathy is, indeed, an emerging trend now. People are turning to homoeopathy with trust. So, to prescribe a homeopathic medicine, a physician has to know not only the dynamics of the disease but also should have an in-depth understanding of the patient's nature, his lifestyle, emotions and habits.
Homoeopathy works on the principle of similia similbus currenter which means like cures like. The science believes that each human being is different and the same diseases in two different people shows different symptoms like two persons having headache one on the right and other on the left. Medicines for both them will be different, the headache of one person is better by pressure and that of the other gets aggravated even by touch. Therefore, to know each patient correctly and choose the right medicine for them.
Homoeopathy has come a long way since it was first established 200 years ago as an effective form of healing. It has also gained from the fact that there are many people today who prefer not to take allopathic medicines because of various side effects and strong doses that upset the body’s equilibrium not to mention the fact that they are expensive. Homeopathic medicines are cheaper in comparison and don’t have any side effects. They are safe and easy to use, which makes homoeopathy more popular among the masses.
Therefore, a Homoeopathy doctor or physician takes long session getting into the minute details of the patient from medical history to temperament to family background to diet preferences and emotional state.
Homoeopathy doctors also include chiropractors, veterinarians, dentists, nurses, physician assistants, acupuncturists and certified midwives.

Work culture
Homoeopathy physicians mostly has predictable schedules as they rarely work in crisis or emergency situations. The physicians generally work in private or have a group practice. They are also involved in national, State and/or local homoeopathic awareness and advocacy programmes and may work with community agencies. They must focus on keeping the environment free of distractions or stress, as wanting to become more stress-free is a big part of why people turn to this method of healing and medicine.

Remuneration
Homoeopathy is an enriching career option where one can earn money as well as reputation. The salary of homeopathic doctors in Government hospitals varies from `10, 000 to `15, 000 per month for freshers. In private hospitals, the remuneration is a little higher. With a couple of years of experience, a doctor can earn between `20,000 to `50,000 per month. If one has a private practice, the income would depend on the number of hours put in.

Five ways to identify the strengths of your team

  • Source: THE ECONOMIC TIMES, 21 Sep. 2012

A Successful leader needs to put together a team that can deliver on contracted assignments and think creatively. But it's equally important to identify the team's strengths and put them to best use. ET shows how.

Get the Right Mix
Strategic and execution excellence should be one of the crucial attributes of a strong team, says Shaily Gupta, group head-human resources, Edelweiss Group. "Good leaders ensure their teams get this blend right," she says. However, equally important is the ability to handle the unknown, to take care of ambiguity and fluidity, says Sandeep Banerjee, chief executive officer and managing director,EdenRed India.

Induce Collaboration
The sense of ownership in team members and ability to work cohesively are important to strengthen the performance of a team, says Banerjee. Adds Gupta: "Great teams are those that foster individual creativity but at the same time encourage interdependence which is productive and collaborative".

Go Beyond the Brief
"Great teams have the ability to go beyond the brief and bring new perspectives to the contracted assignment," Gupta says. Such teams will inevitably push themselves and sometimes even their managements into thinking out of the box, she adds.

Interact Informally
While formal feedback can help identify strengths and weaknesses of a team, informal interactions also help in knowing teams better. "I always look out for personal experiences with my team members and colleagues in both formal and informal settings to get to know them better and to appreciate their (and each other's) strengths and advantages," says Banerjee.

Aim at Larger Picture
A team that rests on past laurels can never achieve greatness. To succeed and be a great team you need to have an achievement orientation, says Gupta. Execution skill is critical to enhance a team's performance and a leader needs to ensure that the team has the ability to look at the larger picture and have a purpose behind their actions, adds Banerjee.

Get your LIFE back, Fight with your Depression….!!

The key to depression recovery is to start with a few small goals and slowly build from there. Draw upon whatever resources you have. You may not have much energy, but you probably have enough to take a short walk around the block or pick up the phone to call a loved one.

Set Goals
Something special happens the moment the paper meets the pen and we write down our goals. Our brain chemistry changes, neurons fire, hormones are deployed, and we start thinking about how we can achieve those goals.

Sleep

Getting the right amount of sleep is healthy for our body and mind. Some argue that sleep deprivation treats depression, but I don't buy it. I think it's a cheap distraction that catches up to you within days. Get enough rest.

Exercise
If you're physically capable, try one hour of cardio (or as much as you can). If you're tee-shirt is soaking wet, you're standing in a puddle of your own sweat, and you can feel the endorphins pumping through your body, you did it right. Shower up and try not being happy, I dare you.

Forgiveness
Many times we're making ourselves sad for no good reason at all. People have been known to keep grudges for lifetimes (most religions and nationalities keep them for generations). When you forgive, you remove this weight off your shoulders and put yourself in a position to be happier.

Gratitude
Many times when we complain we can cause ourselves to be sad. Complaining is just a factor of not taking into account what we're grateful for. Sit down and make a list of 100 things you're grateful for right now (and I dare you not to feel better).

Sunlight

Certain people have a disorder, in which, due to a lack of sunlight, they experience seasonal sadness. I'm somewhat affected by this in the winter when the days are shorter. That's why it pays to grab your iPod (or your friend) and go for 30 minute walks each day and embrace the sunlight.

Hydration

This has always been my downfall; I don't drink enough and chances are you don't either. Some days I drink only 1 cup of water, and I feel horrible. When I remember, and drink 2-3 liters, I'm happy as a kitten on cat-nip, and productive as a bat out of hell.

Friendships
Your life force, support system, and everything that matters. It's not hard to make friends if you put the time in. Everyone wants to be heard, appreciated, and loved. Start off by listening, appreciating and loving, and it will come back your way.

Reading
Take a temporary leave from reality and bury yourself in one of your favorite books. A lot of wise people have been through what you're going through and they made it through to the other side to tell about it.

Journal
This could be an escape but it doesn't have to be. You can write about fiction, and transport yourself to another world, or you can write about what's going on, and let your thoughts carry you through to a solution. Many great books were written by people who were, at least at the time, going through a period of pain and suffering. (dumblittleman.com)

Caring Tuesday : Your lips are mirror of your beauty...!!

The lips have to be given good care for the person to be able to have wonderful features on the face. Lips are also very sensitive and any mild injury on the lips can make them become swollen up a lot. This is the reason for the great importance that needs to be given to the lips.
The lips should look attractive and good lip care is very essential to make the lips have a great look. The care that the lips need first is protection from extremes of weather. Very cold as well as very warm climate can cause the person to have lips that will break. This can make the lips look very deformed and also it will look ugly. This can be prevented by using Vaseline to apply on the lips in the morning to prevent it from getting dry and also very cold.
Vitamin intake is also very important for the person to have great looking lips. Vitamin supplements can be taken by the person who is having problems in the lips. Green leafy vegetables and foods like spinach have to be consumed in huge quantities to make sure that the lips are not damaged.
Many people apply various kinds of lip balms and also lip stick to make their lips look good. It should be remembered that the lips will look good only if the tissue inside is good. So the person who applies lip stick should also make sure that the lips are not damaged before using the lip stick.
Cheap lip stick will cause more harm and damage to the lips. It is always good to use a branded and good quality lip stick to prevent damage to the lips. These have adequate protective properties. The cheap lip sticks are usually made from various chemicals that can damage the lips and can make them look ugly. So these should not be used on the lips.
The person should also make sure that they do not injure their lips as this can cause a big fat lip that is ugly. So protection from injuries is also very important.

Here are some tips to get rid of lip lines:
  • Take a clean toothbrush and a small amount of Vaseline and brush on your lips for a few seconds. It is best to remove patches from lips.
  • Apply good lip balm on your lips. You can use beeswax or glycerin. Make use of lip creams that are moisturizing and are not made of petroleum products because they dry out lips.
  • Apply branded lipsticks and remove lips makeup before sleeping. Make sure that the lipstick you apply is made up of natural ingredients.
  • Avoid using matte colors as they dry out lips and result in lines on lips.
  • Avoid going in sunlight as lips lack melanin in them and are more likely to be affected with sunlight.
  • Don’t smoke and develop good eating habits.
  • Avoid biting your lips as it damages protective layer of lips and result it lines on lips. (healblog)
