Luscious locks naturally

Simple kitchen ingredients can make your hair healthy and beautiful
Although the market is flooded with expensive options of hair conditioners and masks, we know they are loaded with chemicals. When you can achieve the same effect by using natural ingredients available in your home, why buy those expensive products? Here
are a few good masks which you can try at home and get fantastic and better results.

The most popular natural hair conditioner remains egg. Mohit Vij, hair expert and creative head, F1 salon, Rajouri Garden, says, “The high protein content of eggs make them the best conditioner for damaged and dry hair. It helps improve the texture of hair and improves hair health. Egg yolk protects the hair from the negative effects of chlorine, pollution and UV rays.”

One whole egg should be mixed with one tablespoon of baby oil or olive oil and worked through the hair. After leaving it on for 10 to 15 minutes it should be washed off with a mild shampoo.

Bananas provide the ultimate soft and mushy hair. Overripe bananas especially minimise shrinkage and soften the hair, making them excellent for curly or unmanageable hair. One ripe banana should be mixed with half-a-teaspoon of almond oil and some milk. Apply on your hair and wash thoroughly after 20 minutes.

Curd is another natural hair conditioning ingredient which restores the pH balance of hair, prevents dandruff and hair loss. Curd can be mixed with besan which brings shine to the hair.

Then there are natural hair rinsers which also work wonders for hair health. Mohit says, “Lemon juice is the most handy hair rinser. It is rich in phosphorus, vitamin A and vitamin B as well as antioxidants. Massaging lemon juice on your hair helps in regulation of blood and glands which in turn helps in growth of hair and produce oil to make your hair shine.”
Even easier, you can brew some tea leaves in a cup of water. Strain, cool and rinse your hair directly with this concoction after shampooing.

If you have vinegar at home, mix it in lukewarm water and rinse your hair with the solution. It will add bounce to dull and lifeless hair.

Beer, especially flat (without carbonation or bubbles), works even better. It provides ample moisture and amazing shine to the hair. Just take care to wash it off with water thoroughly to avoid becoming a mobile beer bar. Stay natural!
